Bean Dumplings

I have made something similar to these on two other occasions. They are fairly easy, but can take up up to an hour  (depending on skill level) to make

Dough:

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 sticks of butter melted
1/3 cup cold water
1 teaspoon of salt

To make:
1: Melt butter in the microwave
2: Add flour into a bowl and then stir in melted butter
3: Add water and salt, adjust amount of water as needed.

Next, roll out the dough and cut into circles. I used a mug to get the right shape, but it needs to be a fairly large in order to fit the filling

Filling:

1 15 oz can of beans
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
4 teaspoons chili powder
3 teaspoons of garlic
3 teaspoons of cumin
1 teaspoon salt

*Spice measurements are approximate, I didn't measure the spices. You can easily adjust, add or takeaway spices

To make:

Drain the beans and pour into bowl add a little bit of the bean juice back in along with the tomato paste. Stir in spices.

To assemble the dumplings, you put a dollop of beans onto the dough (you shouldn't put too much, or you can't seal them) If you want add cheese (I  used Daiya Mozzerella ) and pull the outsides of the circle up until the meet in the middle. You will have to do some fiddling with the dough to make it work. It helps if you stretch the circle out a bit before hand.

Ready to go into the oven!

Bake at 177 degrees C or 350 degrees F

All done, Enjoy!

Food!!!

During the summer intensive, I have been making my own food for my lunch. Here are some recipes I've been loving.

      Chili Vegan Chicken:

Ingredients:
5 or 6 Beyond Chicken strips (meatless)
Tablespoon of chili powder (or how much you want)
   2 teaspoons of garlic powder
   salt to taste
   2 teaspoons of olive oil

Directions:
Chop up the strips in smaller pieces and combine it all in a bowl.
Cook until you think it is done.

* When I cook, I don't use measurements and I made this recipe up. These measurements may not be very accurate.

I like to eat these with beans of in a sandwich, but there are so many other possibilities.

Bean Recipe:

2 15oz cans of black beans
  2 teaspoons of garlic
  3 teaspoons of cumin
  Tablespoon of chili powder
  1 teaspoon of salt

Cook for ten minutes in a pan...

this is an adaptation of this recipe: http://veryveryverygreen.blogspot.com/2012/06/almost-homemade-black-beans.html

Pointe shoe fitting

Anyone want to guess on what pair of shoes I walked home with? None. Apparently, my left foot is a half a size smaller than my right foot. The shoe that fit perfectly on my left foot was too small for my right foot. The shoe brand I am getting for my left foot is the Suffolk spotlight. But, I came home with toe pads and some new flat shoes. These ones are the So Danca flat shoes and I really recommend them because they are very padded and they accentuate your arch very nicely. And also the elastic is pre-sewn on. I am going to a different dance store tomorrow.

DIY Room Decor

So with my sister moving out of my room, and it is mine, it gets a new look I made this decor.

To make this K, I cut it out of cardboard and painted it. a mint green shade with acrylic paint. The pink border is actually painters tape painted. Lastly, the gold is fabric paint.

For this one, I painted a salsa lid white and put a border with navy blue and my initial.

And finally, the rose I drew on the cardboard painted, then painted and outlined.

News

Okay I have some of the biggest hugest most exciting news. First, today, the furniture from one of my earlier posts, is coming today. I made some changes to what I was getting. Everything I got was from the Elsie collection, and I got a bookshelf too. Next, I took a summer program at the ballet company here and I got in to the second highest level in the pre-professional division. That includes about 7 1/2
hours a week. I have technique, contemporary, character, and POINTE classes. My fitting is tomorrow :-)).

What to expect in London:

What to expect in London:

1.There are no traffic laws.
Either that, or the crosswalks are really wide.
When I was crossing, people just kinda J-walked across the street.

The biker is just waiting in the middle of the road while cars pass

2. The sidewalks are wide too.
Look at the photo.

3.Double decker bus.
It looks modern now.

4. Instead of a fire extinguisher the have a fire blanket.
I know, weird right.

5. Everyone walks.
Or takes the underground.
